Sewagram

Bapu met guest and visitors from india & the world in this cottage. This cottage also witnessed the beginning of many great historical events in India
Originally Shegaon, the name of this village was changed to Sewagram by Gandhiji after he chose it to be a center for his social service efforts and founded the Gandhi ashram. Aside from the ashram, which houses the great leader's personal memorabilia, the Gyan Mandir is another place worth visiting here.
Gandhi
The first meeting of the “ QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT” was held in this cottage in 1942

This cottage was built according to Bapu`s own instructions. It was his wish that all material and artisans should be local and that the expenses should not exceed 100 Rupees.
Ba and other colleagues and guest used to live together in this cottage. bapu used to do all his work here. The two small rooms at the two corners of the small verhandah were the kitchen and bathroom.
